Setting the ePMO foundation and enabling COVID19 Response Initiatives

The American Hospital Association (AHA) PMO initiated just over two years ago, initially focused on the IT Project Portfolio. Building on the PMO's success as a technical function, the Enterprise PMO (ePMO) initiated with strong leadership alignment, with the intent of expanding its value proposition beyond technical priorities. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, AHA ePMO has pivoted into a crisis management resource. The presentation will focus on this AHA "real-time" case study and innovation capacity in action to derive PM value and engagement from the AHA agile experience.

Participants will learn:

• How to facilitate key project priorities and progress
• Learn how to align resources and talents on key project priorities
• Participants will learn how to enable process maturity to deliver projects successfully
• Participants will learn how to independently review project progress, risks, and priority conflicts.

Presenter's bio:
Ken Cygan is the Sr. Director, Enterprise Project Management Office (PMO) at the American Hospital Association (AHA), based in Chicago, IL.

Ken's team leads strategic and transformational projects, both technical and non-technical, to meet the needs of hospital and health system members across the United States.

 Ken is an Agile Certified Professional (PMI-ACP) and a firm believer in operating with agility. He has been leading the charge to enhance both project delivery and organizational effectiveness by embracing the best elements of traditional and agile project management approaches.

Ken Cygan acted as the Program Management Consultant for the commercialization and launch of a new drug product for a leading pharmaceutical company. He directed a cross-functional team that included personnel from Brand Marketing, Trade, Supply Chain, Sales, Managed Care, Medical and Scientific Affairs, and Training, in developing and executing commercialization plans from pre-approval through post-launch. Ken developed a creative, detailed product launch plan that resulted in a dramatically reduced launch timeline.
