Topic: Applied Behavioral Project Management – What do obstacles have to do with it?

Behavioral Project Management designs project management processes around the brain, resulting in improved project outcomes. Since people run projects, people are part of projects, and people influence project success, mastering human factors gives us the ability to decrease risk and project cost, increase plan accuracy, and increase execution efficiency. Join us for a peek into obstacle identification as a Behavioral Project Management Process, and how this compares to risk and uncertainty in human cognition. Drs. Jodi Wilson and Joshua Ramirez, from the Institute for Neuro & Behavioral Project Management (www.nbpmi.com), will help us harness the power of applied behavioral project management to nudge us towards effective project design and decision making.

Speaker Bios:

Jodi Wilson, PhD, CSM, the President of Leading Projects, is a behavioral scientist who enjoys applying behavioral science to projects with a primary focus on Lean-Agile methodologies.  She holds a PhD in business psychology and has nearly 20 years' experience serving individuals, organizations, government contractors for the DOE complex, and Fortune 500 companies on issues that directly impact leadership, organizational culture, and project-based organizations. Her work includes integration of the behavioral sciences into project management, including interdisciplinary research in risk and uncertainty, judgment and decision making, leadership, prediction and forecasting, social psychology, and other applicable behavioral sciences. 

Dr. Josh Ramirez is founder and CEO of the Institute for Neuro & Behavioral Project Management. He is currently building an organization (www.nbpmi.com) that is working on redesigning project management with behavioral, social, cognitive, and neuroscience, in an emerging field of Behavioral Project Management. In addition, he is currently researching application of science to project management to build a foundation of project science under existing practices. The future of project management is in redesigning around the beings that predict and deliver projects: humans. 
Josh is co-author of NeuralPlan with Dr. Shari De Baets, and an adjunct professor of project management, with experience that includes business operations management, project management, and project controls, including work at several national laboratories and other projects throughout the U.S. Department of Energy complex, as well as private sector project work.
