Edward Prentice III
Bio:
Edward Prentice III is the founder of YEP Nation, an organization that helps train young women in the digital media space for better life pathways. His background is in electrical engineering, and he enjoys speaking to youth about becoming Producers of Digital Media instead of Consumers of Video Games, Music, and video projects.
Topic:
Since Facebook changed its name to meta in 2021 the term Metaverse has been bandied around a lot. The metaverse as a platform has been around since the early 2000s with the program Second Life. At this point, since META owns Oculus, everyone thinks a pair of expensive goggles are needed to participate in metaverse activities. The basic definition of the metaverse is when you take a digital replication of yourself (Avatar) and put yourself in a digital replication of an environment. Currently, the metaverse space is dominated by gaming and entertainment content and multi-million dollar (Billions for META) metaverse platforms. In this session, we will show how metaverse technologies (and budgets) can be used for real business and communication purposes.
Learning Objectives:
- Learn the difference between VR, AR, XR
- Learn the difference between Public and Private Metaverse
- Learn the difference between High Poly and Low Poly 3D Elements and why that matters
